is an established agency that provides independent living skills, adaptive skills training and supported living services for individuals with developmental disabilities that reside in Los Angeles and Kern County, CA.
As a Health and Life Educator, your duties include teaching independent living skills, adaptive skills training and supporting living services to adults and/or children with developmental disabilities.
Roman Empire Living Skills, Inc's Educators assist with consumers' development of socialization skills, use of public transportation, community orientation, self-care, meal preparation, money management, vocational exploration and social/leisure exploration.
Work hours are flexible.
Educators are paired with consumers that fit their availability and the level of experience working with their developmental needs.
Schedule(s) can also be changed and/or decided between the Educator and consumer once they are working with one another.
Educators will be working a part-time schedule, with each consumer requiring 20-36 hours of service per month.
This job requires an Educator to have the ability to drive to a consumer's home during their scheduled hours.

Responsibilities:
Assigned a workload that may consist of 1 to 4 consumers.
Assist consumers in achieving and exceeding their personal goals.
Teach/assist consumers with routine daily living tasks (i.
e.
Meal/menu prep, grocery, shopping, grooming, bathing, etc.
).
Teach consumers basic money management.
Assist consumers in developing job skills.
Assist in the development of positive social skills.
Take part in local community events.
Set meeting times/schedule with consumers, ensuring the set number of hours are met monthly.
Complete all required documentation/daily logs as outlined in support services.
Complete time sheets for each day worked.
Help maintain & promote a safe and clean environment for the consumers.
Advocate to protect and advance the rights of individuals with disabilities so that can freely exercise their own life choices, enforce their rights and fully participate in their community life.
Job Qualifications :
Mandarin and Cantonese languages required! Valid Drivers License Valid Auto Insurance CPR Certification (must acquire w/in 30 days of hired date) TB Test Results - w/in the past 2 years (must acquire w/in 30 days of hired date) Required Criminal Background Check Required Live Scan Background Check Cell phone with reliable service (For Communication with Supervisor) Ability to work independently Organized / Professional / Responsible Regional Center Experience is a Plus Minimum 1 year experience in the field of Social Services or Caregiving HS Diploma, GED, or a higher level of experience working with individual's w disabilities is required Pay Rate is dependent on level of experience Fulltime opportunities ONLY develop once you have started working for the company.
AND it is based solely on the need for an educator in a particular location with experience working with a consumer with defined needs.
